Monday Night

Tonight I cooked a beef stew. It had a light gravy, carrots, onions, celery, potatoes and beef stew. It got a four out of five stars with the family (four out of five liked it). The meat ended up being very tender and the boys were even ok with the veggies.

Here is the recipe...

2 pounds beef stew meat cubed
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp. ketchup
1/4 cup flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 - 2 tsp. paprika
1 small can beef broth
1 bay leaf
4 carrots sliced
2 onions chopped finely
1 rib celery, sliced
3 potatoes diced.

Turn the slow cooker on low and add meat in the bottom. Combine flour, salt, pepper and paprika. Stir into meat and coat. Leave for 15 minutes. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Cook on low 10 to 12 hours and stir before serving.

Cooking on the run

Welcome to my blog for busy moms and dads,

I am always on the go with the children and running a business out of my home. The only way I think I can survive this fall is to use my crock pot. It seems like from 2 pm on I don't have a minute to sit, running kids from this activity to that, answering calls, getting that last document out and making the bank on time and on and on. But I want to cook healthy meals and not eat out so I am going back to the crock pot. After all the best time for me to cook is in the morning before everything starts getting busy. So how about make it in the morning and enjoy it at night!

I am going to try to use it every day and blog about it. I will have the family review the meal and post if for you to use. I will also include the cost of the meal. Join me everyday to see what I made and add your comments too!

Cheers!
Susan
